Odisha Vigilance today apprehended Revenue Inspector (RI) Kishor Kumar Swain of Madhaba Circle under Niali Tahasil, Kataka district, along with his associate Sukanta Pradhan, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
The duo allegedly sought the bribe from an applicant to submit a favourable report in a mutation case and facilitate issuance of a corrected Record of Rights (ROR/land patta). Despite the applicant’s repeated requests, Swain delayed the process and insisted on payment.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance officers laid a trap and caught both Swain and Pradhan red‑handed in the RI’s office while accepting the bribe. The entire amount was recovered and seized.
Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Swain from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle. A case has been registered at Kataka Vigilance PS (Case No. 28 dated 30.07.2026) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress.
