A 35‑year‑old youth, Rajesh Kumar Chinda of Dumerbahal village under Sinapali police limits, went missing after being swept away in the Udanti river on Friday afternoon.
According to family sources, Rajesh had gone to the river around 1 p.m. when he was caught in the current and disappeared. Locals immediately alerted the fire service, but due to incorrect directions, the rescue vehicle initially went to another location. On its way back, the vehicle broke down, further delaying operations.
Subsequently, the Boden fire service unit was informed and joined the search. As of the time of reporting, rescue efforts are ongoing, but the youth has not yet been traced. Police have registered the case and are coordinating with rescue teams.
