The Rayagada police have solved the much‑talked‑about murder case in Chandili police station limits, arresting the accused from Andhra Pradesh after a month‑long investigation.
At a press briefing, SP Raj Prasad confirmed that the accused, Bolisetti Suresh Kumar (30) of Gangananagar, Kancharapalem under Visakhapatnam Commissionerate, was arrested and produced in court.
On June 17, police recovered a foul‑smelling bag near a Hyundai showroom in Khaliguda, Rayagada, which contained the decomposed body of an unidentified woman. Despite efforts through social media and media outreach, no claimant came forward. DNA and biological samples were preserved before performing last rites.
A special team under the supervision of CWAR Range DIG, Crime Branch, and CWAR officials examined CCTV footage across Rayagada and Chandili. Cyber Cell support helped track the suspect’s movements from Andhra Pradesh to Rayagada.
On July 30, police arrested Suresh Kumar, who confessed to killing his lover from Vijayawada after she insisted on marriage. He attacked her fatally, stuffed the body in a bag, transported it to Rayagada, and abandoned it before fleeing.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody. Further forensic examination and evidence collection are underway.
