The three-day state-level photography workshop ‘Kala O Camera 2026’, organised by the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi under the patronage of the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, concluded today at the Kalinga Art Gallery.
Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj graced the valedictory ceremony as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he described photography as a unique medium that freezes precious moments of Odisha’s rich heritage, culture, natural beauty and everyday life. He praised the workshop for offering fresh experiences and valuable guidance to talented photographers across the state and extended his best wishes and congratulations to all the participants.
More than 130 aspiring and professional photographers from various districts of Odisha took part in the intensive programme held from August 19 to 21. Over the three days, experts trained participants in the basics of photography, street and candid photography, landscape photography, and portrait photography—equipping them with both technical skills and creative vision.
Among those present at the closing ceremony were Dr. Debayani Bhuyan, Secretary of Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi; Dr. Bharati Pal, Superintendent of the Odisha State Museum; Ashish Kumar Jena, Additional Inspector General of the Odisha Prisons and Correctional Services Directorate; and noted photographer Dilip Dhir Samant.
The workshop has successfully created a vibrant platform for young talents to refine their craft and contribute to documenting Odisha’s cultural and natural legacy through the lens.
