Bhubaneswar: During the Odisha Assembly session on Tuesday, Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra staged a protest in the well of the House, leading to multiple adjournments.

Mishra demanded the return of land acquired for Vedanta Group’s proposed university in Puri district to farmers.

Mishra claimed that the land was acquired fraudulently and demanded a vigilance inquiry against officials involved in the process.

Mishra cited judgments of Lok Pal, Orissa High Court, and Supreme Court in the matter, alleging that the Odisha government has been reluctant to return land to farmers despite court orders.

Mishra also accused the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers of being involved in the multi-crore scam.

He demanded the ruling despite Speaker Pramila Mallik asking him to go back to his seat. Following this, the Speaker adjourned the house until four o’clock in the afternoon.
