Nabarangpur Car Mishap: Odisha CM Expresses Grief, Announces Rs 3 Lakh Ex-gratia

While the next of kin of the deceased will receive Rs 3 lakh each, the injured person will receive free medical assistance.

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the death of three people in a car accident in Jharigaon of Umerkote in Nabarangpur district this morning and has announced Rs. 3 lakh ex-gratia for the next of kin of the deceased.

The Odisha CM also expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.

Further, the Chief Minister has ordered to provide free medical treatment to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.

At least three persons were killed and a woman sustained serious injuries as the car in which they were travelling crashed against a roadside tree in Nabarangpur district on Friday.

The incident took place near Basini junction on Umerkote-Jharigram Road in the district on Thursday night when they were returning home after attending a wedding in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur.

The deceased have been identified as Suresh Mondal of Chatabeda village in Raigarh, Gauranga Ray of Sonepur village and Satya Ranjan Bepari of Umerkote.

The grievously injured woman, Swaralata Bepari, was first admitted to a local hospital and later shifted to Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital. However, she was then shifted to SLN Medical College & Hospital in Koraput as her health condition was critical.
