Rourkela: Passengers had a narrow escape after an non-AC Mo Bus running in Rourkela city caught fire today near TCI Square on Saturday morning. Fortunately, passengers and the bus crew were unharmed after they alighted from the bus in time before it went up in flames.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 10.15 am, while a Mo Bus was en route to Vedavyas from Rourkela. The driver of the vehicle noticed smoke erupting from the engine chamber and immediately pulled over the bus on the road side.
Following then, the passengers and the bus crew alighted from the bus safely. Within no time, the fire engulfed the entire bus and completely gutted the vehicle.
On intimation, the fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the fire.
Though the actual reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to have erupted due to an electrical short-circuit.
