A special POCSO court in Jharsuguda sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his four-year-old daughter in the Brajarajnagar area in June 2025.
The court also sentenced the child’s mother to two years in jail for attempting to suppress the incident.
The convict, Pankaj Podh, was found guilty under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code. The court declared its verdict after reviewing critical evidence collected by Brajrajnagar police.
The incident occurred on June 27, 2025, when Podh sexually assaulted his minor daughter at their residence. Following the crime, Brajarajnagar police registered a case (No. 140/2025) and launched an investigation. During the probe, officers gathered medical reports, witness statements, and forensic evidence that confirmed the allegations.
The child’s mother, Anu Bag, was convicted for attempting to suppress the crime and obstruct justice. The court sentenced her to two years of imprisonment.
The Additional District Judge-cum-Special POCSO Court in Jharsuguda delivered the judgment, calling the crime heinous and deeply disturbing.
