Following continuous torrential rainfall since yesterday and a forecast of heavy to very heavy downpours, the Nuapada district administration has initiated precautionary safety measures.
With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placing Nuapada under an Orange Alert, all government and private schools, along with every Anganwadi centre across the district, will remain closed on Saturday, September 26.
This decision prioritises the safety and security of students and pre-school children. According to an official order issued by the District Education Officer (DEO), the closure applies to primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, as well as specialised institutions such as Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAV), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV), and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).
Concurrently, an order from the Social Welfare Section of the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector confirms that all Anganwadi centres in the district will remain closed on the same date. All Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) have been notified to ensure strict implementation of the directive.
To manage potential infrastructure risks, school headmasters and headmistresses have been instructed to inspect facilities and immediately report any storm or rain damage to their respective Block Education Officers through CRCCs. School authorities have also been urged to maintain high vigilance regarding building structural safety.
The precautionary closures aim to prevent mishaps, as heavy rains are expected to cause waterlogging and disrupt transport routes across low-lying areas. The district administration continues to monitor the evolving weather situation closely.
