Cuttack: A man attempting to kill himself by jumping from the Subarnapur bridge over Mahanadi river in Cuttack was rescued by the firefighters.
The man identified as Sheikh Jahangir hailed from Dumduma of Bhubaneswar.
As per sources, the man had a quarrel with his parents yesterday. After this, he was depressed and decided to end his life. He then went to Mahanadi bridge near Banki to commit suicide. But he got stuck on the base of the pillar while jumping from the bridge.
Locals spotted him this morning and informed the fire department and the police. the fire brigades on receiving information rushed to the spot immediately and rescued the man after an hour of operation.
