Low Pressure Area Likely Over South Andaman Sea Around May 6

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure system is likely to form over south Andaman sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal around May 6, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday.

While the weather agency has said it is closely monitoring its possible intensification into a cyclone, it has not made any prediction regarding its projected path and its intensity.

It further stated that it will issue necessary forecast regarding this.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at several places across Odisha for the next five days.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and thunderstorm with
lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Kendrapara today.

On May 1, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, and Ganjam.

On May 2, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, and Nayagarh.

On May 3, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput on May 4.

There will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next 24 hours and it will decrease by 2-3°C thereafter during the next 3 days over the districts of Odisha.
