Kandhamal: A vigilance court on Tuesday awarded three years rigorous imprisonment to a former police sub-inspector of Chakapada police station in Kandhamal district in connection with a bribery case.
Special vigilance court in Phulbani has also ordered the retired police officer Haribandhu Parida to pay Rs 10,000 as fine failing which he would undergo further rigorous imprisonment of four months, a release issued by the vigilance stated.
The police office was convicted under Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018, it read.
Vigilance will now move the competent authority to stop the pension of the officer following his conviction.
Berhampur division of vigilance had registered a case against Parida for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 to exclude his name from a case.
