Bhubaneswar: The pioneering Odissi dance exponent, performer, choreographer, teacher, trainer and music composer, Kasturi Pattanaik, enthralled the artists and art lovers with her Mangalacharan,dedicated to Lord Sri Ramachandra and adapted from Sri Rama Raksha Stotram in Sanskrit (Dhyayed Ajanu Bahum…)in International Odissi Dance Festival-2021 at Utkal Rangamancha, Bhubaneswar today.
This classical choreography by Kasturi Pattanaikhas its exceptionality in bringing integration of the sequential short performances of mancha puja (alati, puspanjali and pranam), dhyana (atmasamadhina), bhajan (katha-kruti) and kritan/sankirtan in their varied artistic dimensions; with divine salutation to the universe and the cosmic whole. The Mangalacharan, was based on Raag-Chandrakosh, Taal Ektali, withmusic composition by Binod Bihari Panda and Kasturi Pattanaik.
A galaxy of Odissi music veterans-Sachidananda Das (Mardal), Ramesh Chandra Das (Violin), Swopneswar Chakraborty (Sitar), Kshiti Prakash Mohapatra (Vocal), Rudranarayan Parida (Flute) and Sudhansu Ranjan Puhan (Manjira) joined the live performance and elated the recital to its classical best.
