A shocking incident has surfaced in Beguniadihi village under Udala police limits, Mayurbhanj district, where a family discovered insects inside an antibiotic strip purchased from a medical store near the Udala Sub‑Divisional Hospital.
The medicine had been prescribed for a nine‑year‑old boy suffering from fever and cold.
According to the family, when they opened the strip, they found insects crawling inside the tablets. The discovery prevented the child from consuming the contaminated medicine, averting a potential health crisis. The incident has triggered outrage among locals, raising serious questions about drug safety, storage, and quality control in rural Odisha.
Residents demanded immediate testing of the medicine sample, verification of the store’s license and stock, and strict action against those responsible.
