Kandhamal: A joint team of excise officials and Baliguda police destroyed Illegal hemp cultivation over 145 acres of land in Gumapadar and Situpaju area under Mahasing panchayat in Kandhamal district on Monday.
The value of the destroyed cannabis trees is assumed to be Rs 15 crore.
Ganja cultivation in several hilly areas of the state is increasing year by year. Due to easy money, selling and purchasing of weed are getting popular among interstate drug traffickers.
Destruction of the illegal cultivation is carried out jointly by the staff of NCB, Odisha Police, Excise department, forest department and other concerned officials. The Crime Branch of Odisha Police monitors the operations.
