Baripada: Former Minister Golak Bihari Naik passed away following cardiac arrest at a private hospital here at around 10 am on Wednesday. He was 65.
Naik was admitted to a private nursing home in Baripada after he fell sick. He died while undergoing treatment. His son and daughter, son-in-law were present when he breathed his last.
Naik had been elected the Odisha Assembly thrice. He had also worked as minister of different departments between 2000 and 2009.
Former deputy Speaker Sanand Marandi, Baripada municipality chairman and senior leaders of other parties paid last respect to the former minister.
Naik was born in 1957 at Khunta in Balasore district. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
CM Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over the death of the former legislator. In a tweet, CM stated that his contribution to the welfare of people will be unforgettable. He wished his soul to rest in peace.
