The administrations of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts have ordered the closure of 66 schools in flood-affected areas on Saturday, August 29, 2026, citing waterlogging and ongoing restoration efforts.
According to an office order issued by the District Education Officer of Jajpur, classes in government, government-aided, and private schools across Dasarathpur and Binjharpur blocks have been suspended. A total of 58 schools in these two blocks will remain shut for the day. The notification clarified that other schools in the district will function as usual.
Importantly, schools where classes have been suspended will remain open to serve as rescue and rehabilitation centres if required by the administration.
Meanwhile, in Bhadrak district, the administration has ordered the suspension of eight schools in four panchayats under Chandbali block due to flood restoration work.
The temporary closures are part of precautionary measures to ensure student safety and to facilitate relief operations in flood-hit areas.
