The Bhubaneswar-Kataka Police Commissionerate has issued a public notice announcing traffic diversions in the city for 25 days, starting from September 1 to September 25, 2026, to facilitate the laying of a sewerage pipeline from Jagamara Square to Barabari Chowk.
The diversion plan, requested by the General Manager, Project Division-III, WATCO, aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the project period. The notice, signed by Dr Suresh Dev Datta Singh, IPS, Commissioner of Police, outlines specific route changes and restrictions for motorists.
According to the notification, one lane of the affected road will remain closed for pipeline work. Vehicles approaching from Jagamara towards Khandagiri will be diverted through Nilakantha Nagar, while those heading towards Jagamara can continue using the same route. Heavy vehicles, including buses and trucks, will not be allowed to ply between Jagamara Square and Baramunda, and must use the Nilakantha Nagar-Baramunda route instead.
The Commissionerate has urged commuters to avoid the affected stretch and follow diversion signs and police instructions for safe movement. WATCO has been directed to make public announcements and spread awareness through print, electronic, and social media.
Authorities have appealed for public cooperation to ensure the timely completion of the project and minimise inconvenience to residents and commuters.
