Festive celebrations and ongoing public events across Odisha are set to experience damp conditions, as the Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast a prolonged spell of rain driven by an active trough line.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for multiple districts, cautioning residents about isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and surface winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.
Districts Under Weather Watch
The wet weather system is affecting various coastal, interior, and southern regions. Districts placed under the IMD’s advisory include:
- Coastal and Central Zones: Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal, and Angul.
- Southern and Interior Belts: Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
While heavy downpours are currently not anticipated, intermittent light-to-moderate showers and gusty winds are expected to persist across parts of the state, influencing outdoor festivities and local gatherings.
Temperature and Outlook
Despite the cloud cover and precipitation, daytime and nighttime temperatures are projected to remain largely stable without drastic drops. In the capital city of Bhubaneswar, skies will remain predominantly cloudy with maximum temperatures hovering near 33°C and minimums around 24°C.
Meteorological authorities advise citizens, commuters, and festive organizers in warning zones to stay alert during sudden lightning episodes and secure outdoor structures against gusty surface winds.
