Champai Soren Takes Oath As Jharkhand CM

Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) vice president Champai Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi on Friday.

This comes two days after former state CM Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged land scam case. He was administered the oath of office by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Along with him, Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta took oath as a minister in the Jharkhand cabinet.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhawan and senior leaders of the JMM-led alliance were present on the occasion.

The 67-year-old tribal leader was sworn in as the 12th chief minister of the state. He became the 6th CM from Jharkhand’s Kolhan region which comprises East Singhbum, and West Singhbhum Seraikela-  Kharsawan districts.
