Puri: The Superintendent of Police (SP), Puri, Kanwar Vishal Singh on Wednesday placed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) under suspension on the charges of dereliction of duty.
The suspended ASI, identified as Laxman Saran, is attached to the Talabania Police Station and was deployed at Gridco Chhak for duty.
As per reports, Singh had visited Gridco Chhak during patrolling on Tuesday where Saran was supposed to be on duty. However, when Singh visited the place the ASI was not found anywhere.
Singh reportedly waited for a couple of hours for Saran to show up. As the on-duty policeman did not return, the SP ordered an inquiry following which he issued his suspension order.
Earlier on January 17, two police personnel accused of bribery and negligence in their duty were suspended and later arrested.
