Nayagarh: A youth, hailing from Nimani village under Phategarh police limits in Nayagarh’s Bhapur area has been arrested for allegedly abducting a minor girl from her home.
The arrestee has been identified as Sushil Kumar Swain, nephew of Nimani Sarpanch, Sarojini Swain.
According to police, the matter came to light after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint with Phategarh police station against Shushil.
“Shusil forcibly kidnapped my daughter and held her captive. Sarpanch Swain also threatened me to kill her, if we inform police regarding the matter. Sushil’s maternal uncle also brutally assaulted us,” the complaint read.
Acting on the plaint, police launched a manhunt and nabbed the accused and the victim from Bhubaneswar.
The police said the accused has been arrested, forwarded to court and investigations are underway in the case. The victim has been sent for medical examination, the police added.
