Odisha doctors suspended their four-day strike after successful discussions with the state government at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) announced that doctors will resume duties from Saturday.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed the media that the government decided to form a high-level committee to examine the demands raised by OMSA. The committee will include senior officials from the Finance, General Administration, Health and Family Welfare, and Law departments. The first meeting of the committee will be held on July 22.

Mahaling said the government remains sympathetic to the legitimate demands of doctors and assured that all issues will be reviewed. He expressed satisfaction that OMSA agreed to suspend the strike and return to work, ensuring healthcare services resume across the state.

OMSA President Dr Kishore Chandra Mishra confirmed that the talks with the government were successful. He said doctors agreed to withdraw from the protest after the government promised to address their concerns through the newly formed committee.

The suspension of the strike comes as a relief for patients and hospitals, which faced disruptions during the protest. With doctors resuming duties, healthcare services are expected to normalise across Odisha.
