Commissionerate Police swung into action mode in the capital ahead of the festival season, conducting simultaneous late-night raids on three bars and seizing DJ consoles along with other sound equipment.
Officials said the drive was launched to curb excessive noise and alleged rule-breaking at bars and restaurants during the festive period. Teams struck together at Romeo Lane, BBI Inhouse and a third establishment, taking operators by surprise.
Police alleged that DJ systems at the venues were being used in violation of permitted limits. Pioneer consoles and related equipment were confiscated. Officers said several bars have been regularly crossing closing-time and noise restrictions, prompting the hard line.
Bar owners have been warned to follow the rules. Commissionerate Police said restaurants and pubs will remain under close watch through the festival period. Any fresh violation will invite immediate action, officials added.
Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh said a special team has been formed to keep the campaign going. The objective, police said, is to maintain peace and order in the city and protect public safety while celebrations continue.
Further inspections of more bars are already on the cards.
