Kalinga Stadium erupted with energy and applause as the State-Level Children’s Sports Festival, ‘UTSAHA-2026’, officially commenced, hosting over 700 passionate young athletes representing Child Care Institutions (CCIs) from all 30 districts of Odisha.
Organised by the Odisha State Child Protection Society (OSCPS) under the aegis of the Department of Women and Child Development, the flagship two-day festival aims to provide vulnerable children with an equal platform to excel, build confidence, and display their athletic abilities.
A Vibrant Grand Opening
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who symbolically released a cluster of colourful balloons into the sky to mark the festival’s opening.
Addressing the audience, Smt. Parida commended Odisha’s expanding sports ecosystem and underscored the vital role physical activities play in childhood growth.
“Every child has the fundamental right to play, dream, and move forward with confidence. The State Government remains resolutely committed to ensuring these rights and providing equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their background,” stated Smt. Pravati Parida.
Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water, Rabi Narayan Naik, also attended the event as a guest of honour. He commended the department’s efforts in creating an inclusive platform, highlighting the essential role of grassroots institutions in discovering hidden talent in remote areas.
