An outbreak of Hepatitis A has hit Utkal University, with 11 female students testing positive for the viral infection.
Following the sudden surge in cases, health authorities and university administration have stepped in to contain the spread, implementing strict food safety regulations and emergency health screenings across the campus.
Emergency Health Response
A dedicated medical team from the Public Health Department conducted a comprehensive health screening camp on the university grounds to evaluate symptomatic students and test potential carriers.
In response to the outbreak, the university administration has enforced an immediate ban on unauthorised food vendors and the sale of outside food items within the campus premises. Health officials believe contaminated food or water sources may have triggered the sudden outbreak among hostel residents.
University authorities have assured students and parents that preventive measures, sanitisation drives, and medical support are being prioritised to ensure no further transmission occurs.
