The Odisha Vigilance has unearthed a staggering array of disproportionate assets linked to Jayadev Jena, the Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Dharmasala block in Jajpur district.
The ongoing searches have so far revealed multiple high-value properties, extensive land holdings, and luxury vehicles amassed over a multi-decade government career.
Jena, born on May 5, 1969, began his journey in public service on August 25, 1987, entering as an Assistant Teacher under the rehabilitation scheme in Chhatrapur, Ganjam, with an initial monthly salary of just 1,000 rupees. Over the decades, he climbed the ranks, serving as a Headmaster before transitioning into administrative roles as an ABEO in Ganjam and later taking charge in Dharmasala in late 2024.
However, the scale of assets uncovered during the recent vigilance raids paints a startling picture of wealth accumulation.
Unearthed Assets So Far:
-
Real Estate: Investigators have mapped three expansive multi-storey properties, including a triple-storey palatial building measuring approximately 4,300 square feet in Patrapada, Bhubaneswar, alongside a 3,850-square-foot double-storey building and a massive 7,100-square-foot structure in P. Nuagaon, Ganjam.
-
Land Holdings: A total of 19 valuable plots have been identified across prime locations in Bhubaneswar, Khalikote, and Kodala in the Ganjam district.
-
Vehicles & Valuables: The team has documented a TATA Nexon four-wheeler and two two-wheelers. Simultaneously, the exact weight and value of gold jewellery, financial deposits, and investments are actively being calculated.
The technical wing of the Vigilance Department is currently conducting rigorous measurements and valuations of the buildings and land plots. With searches still underway, authorities indicate that further reports and disclosures will follow as the probe deepens.
