Australia showcased their dominance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding 67-run victory over Ireland in Colombo. Opting to bat first, the Aussies posted a competitive 182/6, thanks to Marcus Stoinis’ explosive 45 off 29 balls and Matt Renshaw’s steady 37. Despite Ireland’s disciplined spells from Mark Adair, who claimed two wickets, Australia’s batting depth ensured a strong total.

Ireland’s chase faltered early as Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa spun a web around their batting order. Ellis delivered a career-best 4/12, while Zampa matched his brilliance with 4/23. George Dockrell’s fighting 41 and Lorcan Tucker’s 24 provided brief resistance, but the Irish side collapsed to 115 all out in 16.5 overs.

The victory not only strengthens Australia’s position in Group B but also highlights their balanced squad, combining aggressive batting with lethal bowling. Ellis was deservedly named Player of the Match for his incisive spell that broke Ireland’s backbone.

This result sends a strong message to other contenders: Australia remain one of the most formidable sides in the tournament. Ireland, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly if they hope to stay alive in the competition.

With this emphatic win, Australia’s campaign gains momentum, setting the stage for high-voltage encounters ahead.
