The Central Government has urged all States and Union Territories (UTs) to strictly ensure that clinical establishments prominently display the rates charged for their services and facilities.
In an official communication addressed to the Chief Secretaries of all States and UTs, Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted the necessity of transparent pricing across medical facilities.
The directive aims to empower patients and their families to make well-informed healthcare choices, eliminate sudden billing disputes, and foster greater trust between patients and medical providers.
By making service rates and facility charges publicly visible at hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres, the ministry seeks to curb arbitrary pricing and protect consumers from unfair practices.
The initiative reinforces patient rights and aligns with the broader vision of establishing standardised, accountable healthcare service delivery nationwide.
