Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a premier subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has launched a major e-waste management and cleanliness drive across its headquarters and operational areas as part of Special Campaign 6, running until Oct 31, 2026.
To facilitate responsible disposal, MCL has installed dedicated e-waste collection kiosks across its establishments. Discarded electronic items collected through these kiosks will be processed via authorised recycling channels to prevent soil and water contamination.
The company is also conducting community awareness programs to highlight the environmental and health hazards of improper e-waste disposal.
In the first week of the campaign’s implementation phase, MCL successfully cleaned 73 sites out of 240 identified locations, clearing over 3,06,600 square feet against its target of 10 lakh square feet.
Furthermore, the initiative targets the disposal of 600 metric tonnes of scrap. MCL has already disposed of 350 Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) batteries, generating revenue while promoting efficient resource recovery.
Through Special Campaign 6, MCL continues to reinforce its commitment to workplace cleanliness, health, safety, and sustainable mining practices across Odisha.
