Hopes for better pay scales, allowances and pensions are rising among central government employees and pensioners as a high-powered delegation from the 8th Central Pay Commission landed in Odisha’s capital on Sunday evening.
Led by Member Secretary Pankaj Jain, the eight-member team touched down at Biju Patnaik International Airport at 8:45 PM and has checked into the ITC Hotel. The delegation will remain in Odisha until July 8.
In a special gesture, the Odisha government has declared Pankaj Jain a State Guest from July 5 to 8. All concerned departments have been directed to extend full hospitality and cooperation during the visit.
Discussions with stakeholders are scheduled for July 6 and 7. The commission will assess salary structures, benefits and grievances of central government employees across various categories, along with pensioners and other government staff in the state.
The delegation includes Joint Secretaries Neeraj Kumar Gayagi and Amit Satija, along with Krishna V.R., Ravi Prakash Yadav, Soumyajit Ghosh, Abhay Narayan Sahay, Kuldeep Singh Meena and Rahul Kumar Sharma.
This visit is part of the 8th CPC’s nationwide effort to gather real ground-level feedback before finalising its recommendations — recommendations that will directly impact the lives of millions of central government employees and their families across India.
