Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police IPS Jagmohan Meena submitted his resignation citing personal reasons.

The 2013-batch officer took this step after nearly 13 years of service, and the state government is now reviewing his application.

Senior IPS Officer Emphasises Privacy After DCP Resignation. Jagmohan Meena confirmed he belongs to the 2013 batch and has served for about 13 years. He filed the resignation request after detailed discussions with his family and friends. He described the move as entirely personal and appealed for respect of his privacy. He urged everyone not to link his Jagmohan Meena resignation to any other incident or external pressure.

The officer thanked the Odisha government and its people. He said he feels fortunate for the opportunity to serve in the state and prayed for the continued blessings of Lord Jagannath. He added that his respect and affection for Odisha will remain, and his future plans will proceed according to divine will. Odisha Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania confirmed that Meena has submitted his resignation and the government is examining it. The resignation is not yet formally accepted.

Police and administrative circles have started discussions following the development. Meena reportedly submitted his papers nearly a month ago, though processing remained pending. No transfer decision had been taken earlier. Authorities have begun identifying a suitable replacement, with a focus on an experienced officer to address rising crime concerns in the capital.

During his career, Meena served as SDPO in Kalahandi, SP in Malkangiri, Anugola, and Ganjam, and as DCP in Kataka before taking charge as Bhubaneswar DCP on February 28, 2025. He gained experience in anti-Maoist operations, law and order, crime investigation, and election management.

Sources indicate he may explore opportunities in the private sector once the government accepts the resignation. Meena has maintained that his decision stems solely from personal considerations and expressed gratitude for his time serving the people of Odisha.
