The Central Range Police have rolled out elaborate security and traffic arrangements across multiple districts of Odisha for the ongoing Shrabana Mela (Bol Bom) 2026, observed on August 3, 10, 17, and 24.
The measures aim to ensure the safe, smooth, and peaceful movement of Kaudias and devotees carrying holy water to Shiva temples.
During the Shrabana period, thousands of devotees undertake journeys from rivers such as Prachi and Bhargavi to temples including Shree Lokanath Dev Temple in Puri. Police personnel have been deployed at major temples, river crossings, and vulnerable points to regulate traffic and assist pilgrims.
District‑wise Highlights
- Puri: Composite deployment at Lokanath Dev, Jodalinga Shiv, and Balikapileswar Temples, with 12 platoons, 253 Home Guards, and multiple senior officers overseeing operations.
- Kataka: At Dhabaleswar Temple, over 50,000 devotees expected; six platoons deployed. Singhanath Temple under Badamba PS secured with additional forces.
- Nayagada: Heavy deployment at Ladukeswar and Dutikeswar Temples, expecting up to 25,000 devotees.
- Jagatsinghpur: Security across 10 Police Stations, including Tirtol, Paradeep Lock, and Kujanga; exclusive force at Gorekhnath Temple.
- Jajpur: Seven sections of force across major temples under Badachana, Dharmasala, and Kuakhia PS.
- Khordha & Kendrapada: All stations alerted; special focus on Rajkanika PS for safe boat passage of devotees heading to Aradi Temple in Bhadrak.
Safety & Coordination
Police have been instructed to maintain close coordination with temple authorities and local administration, focusing on crowd control, traffic regulation, and river‑crossing safety. Devotees are urged to follow designated routes, avoid overcrowding, and cooperate with police personnel for a peaceful pilgrimage.
