The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Bhubaneswar chapter, organised a Youth Parliament Programme to familiarise school students with the functioning of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
As part of the educational visit, nearly 200 students from Classes IX to XII representing eight schools participated in the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker Surama Padhy highlighted the Assembly’s rich heritage and democratic significance, describing it as the “temple of democracy.” She urged students to uphold its dignity and contribute as responsible citizens to strengthen democratic processes.
Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout explained the legislative procedures, activities, and scope of the Assembly, while Chief Security Officer Gopal Chandra Behera and senior research officers Pradeep Kumar Kulu, Jayakrushna Pradhan, and Prashant Kumar Das guided the students through the programme.
Students from Mothers Public School, DPS Kalinga, ODM Public School, New Stewart School, Nalanda Public School, DPS Dhenkanal, KT Global School, and Loyola School took part in the event.
The Speaker emphasised that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and should actively engage in democratic governance, contributing to the vision of a prosperous Odisha and a developed India.
