A mutilated body of a woman was recovered from the railway track near Titerposh Bridge between Gadaposh and Tangarmunda stations in Sambalpur district on Saturday morning, sparking shock in the area.
Local residents spotted the body and immediately informed Bamra GRP. Officer Arun Bhaiswal reached the site and began an investigation. The body had been severely damaged by a train, making identification difficult at first. Police conducted inquiries in nearby villages and later identified the deceased as Sushila Bag, 55, wife of Bishwanath Bag of Mahulchapal village.
Family members revealed that Sushila had been mentally disturbed. Police suspect she may have committed suicide by stepping onto the railway track. However, investigators continue to examine the circumstances to confirm the exact cause.
Due to the extent of injuries, the body was collected in two plastic bags and sent to Gobindpur hospital for post-mortem. After examination, the remains were handed over to the family around 3 PM.
