A viral video showing Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, including its deputy chief Saifullah Kasuri, attending the funeral of Shoaib Akhtar’s elder brother Shahid Akhtar in Islamabad has triggered widespread outrage.
Shahid passed away on June 24, and the funeral took place at the H-8 graveyard.
Kasuri, known for his inflammatory anti-India rhetoric, appeared alongside other LeT members and Inam Ur Rehman, president of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) — the political front of LeT. The PMML, reportedly formed by UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed to bypass bans on his groups Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Milli Muslim League, contested Pakistan’s 2024 elections.
The video highlights Pakistan’s continued patronage of banned terror outfits. Kasuri’s public appearance underscores how terrorists operate freely under state protection, exposing Islamabad’s persistent support for anti-India elements.
Kasuri has repeatedly issued threats against India, warning of attacks similar to the 26/11 Mumbai strikes. He recently accused India of “water terrorism” after the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and admitted in a separate video that the Pakistani army invited him to lead funeral prayers for soldiers — a statement confirming the military’s ties with terror groups.
