Jajpur: A woman was killed while one other person sustained injuries in a road mishap in Dharmasala Block of Jajpur district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Banita Rout, a resident of Kendrapara.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Banita was Banita along with her son-in-law Prashanta Sahu was on her way to the Dhabalgiri area of Jajpur Road on a scooter when a speeding truck rammed into them from the rear side near Jaraka Square on the National Highway 16.
Subsequently, Banita fell on the road and the truck crushed her to death. However, Prashanta has narrowly escaped the fatal mishap with injuries.
On getting information, police reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway in this regard, said a police official.
