US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard expressed her solidarity with India, saying, “We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack… We support you as you hunt down those responsible.” Gabbard extended her condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian people via a post on X.
Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, key figures from the United States government have voiced their strong support for India and condemned the violence in the strongest terms.
The US State Department, represented by spokesperson Tammy Bruce, echoed similar sentiments. She stated that President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were united in their condemnation of the attack. “We pray for the lives lost and call for the perpetrators to be brought to justice,” Bruce said. She noted that the situation remains fluid and the US is closely monitoring developments, without commenting on Pakistan’s possible involvement.
Earlier, President Trump personally called PM Modi, assuring him of America’s full support in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Other top American leaders also expressed solidarity:
-
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, nominated as US Ambassador to the UN, said: “The United States stands unequivocally with India… PM Modi and the resilient people of India have our unwavering support.”
-
Senator Cory Booker called the killings “abhorrent” and extended his prayers to the victims.
-
Senator Chris Murphy urged authorities to ensure justice and prevent further ethnic unrest.
The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), marks the worst terror strike in the Valley since Pulwama in 2019, further escalating Indo-Pak tensions.
