The Odisha government has expressed serious concerns over the security of “lovers’ points” and prominent tourist destinations across the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida revealed that two rounds of high-level meetings have already been conducted to address the issue and implement robust safety measures.
This renewed vigilance comes in the aftermath of a recent incident in Gopalpur that raised alarms about the vulnerability of such locations. In response, authorities acted swiftly, apprehending the accused within the same night.
“We are taking the safety of all public and tourist spaces seriously,” said Parida. “These are not just recreation zones but also reflect Odisha’s welcoming image. We intend to protect both local residents and visiting tourists.”
She emphasised that all lovers’ points and key tourism sites will soon see increased security deployment, technological surveillance, and regular patrols to deter criminal activity.
As Odisha boosts its tourism prospects, ensuring visitor safety remains a top government priority. Further announcements regarding infrastructure upgrades and safety audits are expected in the coming weeks.
