Odisha is poised to become the national hub for food processing industries, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced during an interaction with leading food‑processing companies in New Delhi on Friday.
The Chief Minister said Odisha offers ample investment opportunities and world‑class infrastructure for the sector’s expansion. “With abundant agricultural produce, skilled manpower, strong rail and road connectivity, and port facilities, Odisha is ready to lead India’s food‑processing revolution,” he stated.
Majhi highlighted that the state’s agriculture‑driven economy provides a natural foundation for growth. He cited Koraput’s coffee, now nationally acclaimed, and Nabarangpur’s high‑quality maize production as examples of Odisha’s potential. The state’s long coastline, he added, offers immense scope for marine‑based food industries.
The Chief Minister assured that the government will provide land, utilities, and policy support to investors. “Odisha has a conducive environment and export‑friendly policies. The establishment of food‑processing units will generate large‑scale employment,” he said.
During the event, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Odisha government and major food‑processing companies, marking a significant step toward industrial collaboration and rural empowerment.
