Bengaluru: India’s top-ranked singles player Sumit Nagal advanced to the second round of the Bengaluru Open 2024 tennis tournament with a win over Geoffrey Blancaneaux of France at the KSLTA Stadium on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old who rose to world No. 98 in the latest ATP rankings by winning the Chennai Open last week, beat his 274th-ranked opponent 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 28 minutes to enter the round of 16.
Nagal will now take on Hong Kong China’s Coleman Wong, who defeated Rafael Collignon of Belgium 6-4, 7(7)-6(4) in his opener, in the second round of the ATP Challenger Tour event.
The Bengaluru Open 2024 tennis tournament began on Monday and will conclude on Sunday.
