A powerful explosion followed by an armed assault killed at least 15 Pakistani soldiers at an army camp in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday.
Terrorists stormed the facility with heavy weapons after detonating explosives near the perimeter.
Security forces engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle. Reports confirmed casualties among soldiers, though details of losses on the attackers’ side remain unclear.
Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility, stating that its Special Istishhadi Force carried out the suicide attack. This marks the group’s first officially claimed suicide strike since October 2025.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Pakistan’s northwestern regions, where TTP activity has resurged in recent months. Military authorities have yet to release an official statement on the attack.
Witnesses described chaos as the blast shook the camp and gunfire erupted. Emergency teams rushed to the site, while reinforcements secured the surrounding area.
