A woman attempted self‑immolation outside Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Friday, pouring petrol on herself near Gate No. 1 before security personnel intervened.
SSB jawans overpowered her immediately and rushed her to the hospital.
Witnesses said the woman broke down in tears after being rescued and accused Banpur police of falsely arresting her and keeping her in jail without reason. She claimed police had fabricated charges against her and targeted her unfairly.
Police confirmed that she was taken into custody and admitted to the hospital for medical care. Officials said her condition remained stable and further inquiry into her allegations would follow.
