Sonepur Records Highest Voter Turnout In 2nd Phase Of Odisha Panchayat Polls

Bhubaneswar: Sonepur district recorded the highest voter turnout of 85.67 per cent in the second phase of three-tier panchayat polls held on Friday.

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday issued the polling percentage of second phase of three-tier panchayat polls and accordingly the State witnessed 78.3 per cent voters turnout.

As per an official release, Sonepur district recorded the highest 85.67 per cent voter turnout followed by Jharsuguda (85.14), Boudh (84.9), Kalahandi (83.81), Gajapati (82.69) and Gajapati (82.69).

On the other hand, Ganjam district recorded the lowest turnout with 64.86 per cent.

The second phase polls were held at 20,436 booths in 1,514 panchayats in 68 blocks across the state.

In the first phase of panchayat elections held on February 16, 77.2 per cent polling was recorded in the state.
