Kendrapara: The Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested the Senior Clerk of the District Treasury Office, Kendrapara, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 to pass the pension bill of a retired teacher.
According to reports, Senior Clerk Samara Hembrum had demanded Rs 5000 from the complainant to pass the pension bill.
The bill was pending with Hembrum for the last two months.
Based on the complaint, a team of the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and caught the clerk red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Subsequently, simultaneous raids were conducted by the teams of the anti-corruption agency on properties of Hembrum including his residence and office in Kendrapara district.
A case in this connection has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
