Bangomunda: Following tension due to a clash between two groups, Section 144 has been clamped in Bangomunda town of Bolangir district from 25.10.2023 (10 AM) till 26.10.2023 (till midnight).
The district administration has imposed the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in Bangomunda in view of the Patakhanda Jatra today till midnight tomorrow (October 26).
Police forces have been deployed in Bangomunda town while five persons from both sides have been arrested for their involvement in the clash.
Two days ago, there was a Chhatar procession of tribals in Bangomunda village under Bangomunda police station in Bolangir district. During the procession, there was a group clash between the tribals and the Dalit community over some issues.
Five members of the tribal community were allegedly attacked by members of the Dalit community. The tribal community and some villagers then staged a protest outside Bangomunda police station from 10 am to 5 pm on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of the accused from the daily community members who were behind the attack.
In the evening, once again some members of the tribal community staged a protest at Ambedkar Street in Bangomunda village. Following this, tension prevailed in the locality.
Due to the continued unrest in the village, the police forces were deployed at sensitive places across the area.
Personnel from Muribahal, Turekela, Bangomunda, Sindhekela police stations, Kantabanji SDPO Gaurang Charan Sahu, Additional SP Suresh Naik were present to maintain law and order and prevent further escalation of the clash.
