Retired Head Clerk In Sundargarh Gets 4-Yr RI In Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh today convicted the former Head Clerk (Retired) of Balisankara Tehsil officer in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo four years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI).

Today, the Ex-Head Clerk (Retired) of Balisankara Tehsil Md. Sabir Hussain, who was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S Case No.44 dtd.13.05.2015 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for processing a mutation case regarding the transfer of ownership of land, was convicted by a Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the PC Act, 1988.

The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and payment of a fine and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence U/s 7 PC Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Further, the convict Md. Sabir Hussain, Ex-Head Clerk(Retired)was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Md. Sabir Hussain, Ex-Head Clerk (Retired) following his conviction.
