New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the late former Prime Minister and BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary on Friday.
They were accompanied by various dignitaries, including Union Ministers and leaders from several parties, who joined in commemorating Vajpayee at his memorial, ‘Sadaiv Atal’.
In his tribute, Modi said on X, “He is remembered by countless people for his unparalleled contribution to nation-building. He devoted his entire life towards ensuring that our fellow citizens lead a better quality of life. We will keep working to fulfil his vision for India.”

A politician of wide respect and recognized as one of the finest orators, Vajpayee was pivotal in garnering allies for his party during the coalition era of the 1990s, becoming the first prime minister from the BJP.
His tenure as prime minister from 1998 to 2004 is noted for initiating reforms and advancing infrastructure sectors. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 93.
