Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ through video conferencing, marking the start of a 100‑week national campaign against substance abuse.
The initiative seeks to inspire India’s youth to stay away from drugs and become ambassadors of positive social change within their communities.
The campaign, designed as a Jan Bhagidari (public participation) movement, will feature weekly activities every Sunday across the country — including sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, street plays, art competitions, and community discussions. Each event aims to strengthen awareness and encourage collective action toward a drug‑free society.
Educational institutions, youth organisations, civil‑society groups, industry bodies, and spiritual organisations have joined hands to make the campaign a nationwide movement. More than 10,000 locations across India witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, volunteers, and community leaders during the launch.
Over 125 spiritual organisations also took part virtually, alongside MY Bharat volunteers, National Service Scheme (NSS) members, youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, NGOs, and youth wings of industry associations.
