The Commonwealth Games 2026 will conclude on Sunday, August 2, with a grand closing ceremony at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. The event will celebrate the achievements of athletes across the Commonwealth while officially handing over the Games to Ahmedabad, which will host the 2030 edition.
As the sporting spectacle comes to an end, India will also be in focus during the closing ceremony as it receives the ceremonial baton ahead of hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad. The ceremony is expected to feature a blend of music, culture and celebrations marking the transition between host cities.
Louisa Mahon, Chief Marketing and Ceremonies Officer for Glasgow 2026, described the event as an emotional celebration of athletes and the city. She said the ceremony would be a moment to thank competitors from across the Commonwealth and the people of Glasgow before ending the Games with a vibrant celebration.
The entertainment lineup includes legendary Scottish rock band Simple Minds, known for hits such as Alive and Kicking, Waterfront, Promised You a Miracle and Belfast Child. Other performers include BEMZ, Cammy Barnes, Sandi Thom, and Australian singer Delta Goodrem, who has previously performed at the Melbourne 2006 and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Representing India and the next host city, Ahmedabad, the ceremony will also feature performances by acclaimed singer Shankar Mahadevan and actor Rashmika Mandanna, showcasing Indian culture as the Commonwealth Games flag is handed over.
The closing ceremony will begin at 9:00 PM local time in Glasgow on Sunday, August 2. For viewers in India, the event will start at 1:30 AM IST on Monday, August 3.
The ceremony will be held at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, a venue with a seating capacity of around 13,000 spectators.
Indian viewers can watch the live telecast of the Commonwealth Games 2026 Closing Ceremony on the Sony Sports Network and DD Free Dish. The event will also be live streamed on the Sony LIV app and website.
